Rusalka Dnistrova Museum — the department of the Lviv Art Gallery
The "Rusalka Dnistrova" Museum and the monument to Markiyan Shashkevych (D. Krvavych and M. Posikira, the sculptors, V. Dubinina and M. Fedyk, the architects) were opened on the 15 th of September, 1990.
Markiyan Shashkevych (1811 -1843) was a famous poet, writer, interpreter. He was the inspirer of the first book in Ukraine, written in popular language and in Ukrainian alphabet - "Rusalka Dnistrova" ("Mermaid of Dnister").
The exhibition of the "Rusalka Dnistrova" museum - is placed in the bell-tower of the Church of the Holy Spirit which is the architectural relic of the 18th c.
Supported by progressive Slavonic figures young enthusiasts managed to publish the literary miscellany "Rusalka Dnistrova" in 1837 in Buda printing shop of Pest University. The documents which thoroughly tell about the collection compiling, publication terms, edition and its fate are presented in the museum. The address: 40, Copernicus Street, tel.:72-47-96. The Section of the Lviv Art Gallery — The Museum of Art of the Ancient Ukrainian Book
The new exhibition of the Museum of Book presents Ukrainian incunabula where one can see works of Ukrainian medieval publishers, printers and engravers. Several unique publishings of the Renaissance and the Baroque times represent European printings.
The third exhibition hall reflects the atmosphere of the medieval printing place with special authentic elements of the room and two unique machines: a printing press of the 17th c. and a page-press.

The Johann Georg Pinsel Museum
In 1996 in the former Poor Clares Church there was opened the Museum H|H of Lviv Sacral Baroque Sculpture "Johann Georg Pinsel Creative Work"
At the end of the 1750s he created the sculptural ensemble on St. George Cathedral in Lviv, worked in Lviv St. Martin Church, in Monastyrys'ka in Ter-nopil region. The altar from the church of Hodovytsya village near Lviv is the brightest work as concerns the emotional influence. In 1761 the sculptor died.
The sculptor's creative work is a remarkable phenomenon in the history of Ukrainian and moreover - the world culture. He created the original heritage which had no equal in Europe of the mid-18th c. and formed Lviv baroque sculpture school (about 40 masters).

The Museum of Lviv Ancient Relics
The Museum of Lviv I Ancient Relics is the Lviv Art Gallery department. It was formed in 1993 as the result of many years' investigations of one of the oldest sacred places of Lviv - the Church of St. John the Baptist.
The shift exhibition of the museum is devoted to the works of art, sacral relics, historical documents, archaeological godsends which relate to the most ancient period of Lviv. The icon of the mid-14th c. - "Lviv Virgin and Child" (temporarily kept in fund) is one of the most valuable exhibits.

The Pharmacy Museum
The Pharmacy Museum - 2, Drukars'ka Street; tel.: 72-00-41. Opening hours from 9 a.m to 7 p.m.; on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Founded in 1735 the pharmacy exists in this house since 1775. In 1966 a museum was opened here, reconstructed and extended in 1985. It amounts to over 8 thousand exhibits. The halls of the main building are decorated with wall paintings of Vienna masters of the early 19th c. with stained-glass windows of the 19th c., sculptural busts of medicians of the , past. Ancient crockery, packaging of medicine and prescription registers are kept in oak carved cupboards of the late 17 - early 19th c. In the restored ancient pharmaceutical laboratory there is a collection of rare medicinal herbs. In the restored Renaissance wing of the 17th c. the decorative door leads to the alchemical laboratory. In the basement one can taste medicinal "iron wine".
The Museum of History of Galicia Medicine named after Maryan Panchyshyn
Opened in the premises of Ukrainian Medical Society in 3, U. Karmelyuk Street, telephone 76-97-98. Is opened from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. (Saturday and Sunday are days off).
The museum amounts to about 5 thousands exhibits. B These are the materials on the history of Lviv Medical University, medical instruments and wares; M. Panchyshyn memorial room can be seen.
The Zoological Museum of Lviv University

Opening hours from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.(except Saturday and sanday). Founded in the 19th c. it is reckoned nowadays among ten the best university museums of Europe. The fauna of all the continents is presented in it. There are about 24 thousand of insects, 10 thousand of Vertebrates, a thousand of molluscs among 35 thousand of exhibits. The collections of butterflies and beetles, birds of paradise and humming-birds, marsupials are of special interest. The sceleton of manatee from the island of Bering, the horns of aurochs with a part of skull are the unique exhibits.
The Mineralogical Museum of Lviv University

The Geological Museum of Lviv University

Rare palaeontological exhi-its - fossilized leavings of vegetable and animal kingdom, fragments of the skeleton, tusks and teeth of mammoth (from Mykolayiv region of Ukraine) the skeleton of ichthyosaurus of Jurassic period (from West Germany) among them are presented.

The Museum of History of the Pre-Carpathians Military Area Forces

The Museum of Ancient Graphic Techniques
8, Yu. Drohobych Street. Opening hours from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (except Sunday). It is situated in the art shop "Lithography". One can see working lithographic printing press of the 19th c. , the only in Ukraine collection of over 500 original Alpine lithographic stones of the jJU 19th c. the press for high print and etching joener's bench of the early 20th c., other equipment for making prints. Visitors can watch ereative work of artists and experienced lithography masters; watch the process of engravings making with their own eyes, get to know different graphic works of Lviv artists and buy some of them.
The Museum of Metrology and Measuring Instruments

One can see over 400 exhibits in four halls. They are the old and the newest means of measuring.
